Wiltshire & New Forest

Another year, another holiday in the UK. We’d planned to go abroad and were looking at Split in Croatia but I couldn’t get travel insurance (more on that below). MrsQ put out a request for recommendations on Facebook and received lots of replies. We chose to do a 2 location trip, with very different accommodation at each! Shepherds Hut Yes, we went “glamping” for 3 nights at a location just outside Tisbury in Wiltshire, a Shepherds Hut with nearby kitchen…

2020 all change..

A new decade, or is it the last year of the previous 🙂 anyway, 2020 sees me 17 years since I left the Isle of Man 2 years in remission from Hairy Cell Leukaemia! yay! New Job at Numerous 🙂 Sadly, having to step down from regular Trumpet at North London Symphony Orchestra & City of London Symphonic Winds 🙁 It’s hard to believe that it’s 17 years since I packed up and left the Isle of Man after living…

Finished Medication back to normal!

So, earlier this week, after 6 months… I’ve finished taking daily medication as part of my treatment for Hairy Cell Leukaemia.  Another milestone… 26 weeks of daily and weekly meds… here are the numbers.. 3 daily – 546 tablets , plus 4 weekend – 208 tablets I suppose in the grand scheme of things, and the nature of Hairy Cell Leukaemia (being one of the least nasties), I got off lightly, given what I hear others have to endure! In…

October in Andalucia

October in Andalucia

We are very fortunate to have a family holiday home nestled in the hills off the coast of Andalucia which we can visit as often as we like.  Of course, we don’t get to visit as often as we like as day to day life takes over.  It was great however this year to be able to get out and soak up some sunshine, given that I’d missed quite a bit of the good summer in London due to my…

Milner Tower, Bradda Head, Isle of Man

Landscape and Classic TT Photographs from Isle of Man August 2017

While on the Isle of Man recently for a family event, we took some timeout to visit the sights and do some hiking (well, gentle stroll for me due to my recovery from illness).  It’s a bit odd for me not to have many pictures from the Isle of Man considering I lived there for 7.5 years! Pictures are from Peel Beach, a stroll from Bradda Glen up to Milner tower on Bradda Head, a reasonably gentle cliff top walk…

Paris – April 2017 – Easter Break

I’ve had the fortune to visit Paris on a number of occasions, until recently, always either destination for, or passing through some band related trip, so it was great to return as a tourist and spend some time in the city. (I’m not including spending hours waiting in Gare du Nord waiting to catch snow train to Moutier…. that is another story!) The first time I visited was in 1985 when as part of an epic trip by our school…

Noel and Gertie

With Mrs Q (Helen Power) about to embark on 2017 UK tour of Noel and Gertie, I thought I would use the opportunity to share some pictures I took while Helen worked on this show previously in Frinton-On-Sea in 2014.  I was allowed take pictures on same day the official photographer was in, which was fun. The show, or more correctly a Musical Review, by Sheridan Morley is drawn from the songs, letters, poems, films and diaries of Noel Coward, reflecting…

Fontebussi Tuscan Fitness

Fontebussi Tuscan Fitness Holiday

This year for our summer holiday Mrs Q and I decided to split our holiday between two destinations.  Both of us practice Yoga so we thought it would be a good time to go on a Yoga / Fitness break.  After some searches on the web Mrs Q found a company that offered short term fitness breaks including Yoga in Tuscany.  As neither of us had visited Tuscany before, this was a good opportunity for us to experience it’s food,…

Kolbuszowa Folk Museum Poland

Folk Museum Kolbuszowa – Poland

In July of this year I went on a long weekend concert trip with Regent Brass to attend the Summer Trumpet School at Kolbuszowa in Poland.  During our time off between rehearsals, mixing with the students and staff at the summer school, concerts.. and the odd trip to sample the local beer (and homemade vodkas), we were given a tour of a local attraction, the Folk Museum. The weather was changeable that morning (sunny, cloudy, rainy, thunder showers..), but it…
