On bank holiday May 7th MrsQ hosted the first of our fundraisers for Bloodwise “Tea with the Girls! (Not just for Girls).  On what turned out to be the hottest day in London this year so far, we setup the garden with as many tables and chairs as we could find.

Tea in the Garden

On the Menu we had:-

  • Carrot Cake – Hummingbird Bakery
  • Rich Chocolate Cake
  • Rhubarb and Custard Cupcakes (with our own homegrown Rhubarb)
  • Raspberry and Coconut Cheesecake (Vegan, gluten and dairy free)
  • Lemon and Sultana Cake (Gluten and Dairy free, no refined sugar, I mean ridiculously healthy)
  • Plain scones and Fruit scones

All homemade, with a selection of Tea’s, Pact Coffee and Greek Coffee available.

We had a great turnout on the day, with many friends who support both myself and MrsQ last year coming along.  It was great to speak to some people I’d not seen for a while and thank them for their support from afar, and also thank them for giving up their time and cash to support a very worth cause.

Despite many people having second and third helpings! there was plenty of cakes to take to my colleagues at MBA on the following Tuesday, where more cash was donated.  We had made so many scones, we were able to freeze some to bring to our chums in Potters Bar town Band that Friday to enjoy during break in rehearsal.

Total raised from the event itself, my work colleagues and members of Potters Bar band came to £356, plus at least £60 going direct to my Ride London Just giving page (more on that later).1

The money was passed on to bloodwise where it will be used for research and patient support.  If you want to run your own Tea with the Girls, check out the information available on the bloodwise website.
