Overall, a good day out yesterday at Masters, OK not the desired result, but you have to take the losses with same grace as victories. It is band contest after all, so many variables to try and control and it is down to the judges decision in the end. We played more or less as well as we could and will take on board comments from judges as we prepare for nationals.
Not hugely impressed with very negative live feed opinions from online brass press (All4Brass excluded…)…
How about some words of encouragement for bands who put all the time and effort into preparing for these contests? You all work in a closed market, why be so critical, sarcastic and just plain rude to your target audience?
Nice to catch up with banding chums from various parts of UK whom I’ve not seen for a while. It was also nice to catch up with players from local L&SC bands to congratulate them on their recent results, in particular the Spring Festival. If only more bandspeople were gracious in defeat and victory, it would be a much more pleasant experience for all of us. Reading on-line posts from various bands to still see some sour-grape comments relating to Regent victory in the Areas is very sad. Lets’s face it, you are going to lose more contests than you win, so get used to it. You only have to look at the list of top ranked bands who will not be at RAH this year to see this. I’m sure it would have been much more of a damp squib if weather didn’t permit us to sit out in the sun and socialise with other bands .. Well done to prize winners, well done to other L&SC bands who faired better in the results… Good for our area…
Onwards and upwards 🙂 World Premier of Ink Garden in June, usual summer jobs.. and then preparation for the RAH, where we hope to change some opinions? Hmmmm..
