In brief, it’s going well, almost to plan (of course, I’m behind training plan…)

Can’t thank those who have sponsored me to date enough, you are marvellous people! Still time to sponsor if you wish on this link .

Training Higlights

Most training has been on paths & trails around Biggleswade, with one long easy trail run with my chums from Run2Drink. We ran from Royston to Baron Brewery (well, we’re affiliated to Drink Tasting room and bottle shop in Biggleswade!) across the trails, completing 12 miles at mixed pace. We may have strayed off the trail a couple of times, and once to avoid crossing a field containing a bull.

Training in Numbers

I completed TR #026 today which was a 10 mile run.

Total distance run in training to date: 135.77 miles

Average Pace: 8:39 – I’m hoping for an average pace on the day between 8:15 / 8:30

Total Time: Just under 20 hours – so on the day I will have a mantra, I’ve trained over an hour for each kilometre I have to run…

Run2Drink Run to Baron Brewery!

On the Bike

In between running I’ve also been out on the bike – usually a weekly ride with chums from Ride2Drink (yes, affiliated to the same Beer shop… ). I have extra incentive to keep on the bike as I have signed up for The Peaks 100 end of September, in fact I’m out tomorrow in Surrey to do the Cobham Sportive organised by European Cycling Events.

I’ve had my Boardman Sportive for 10 years now and it’s completed just under 10,000 miles so it was well overdue it’s recent upgrade – where every consumable part that could be replaced was replaced. It’s like a new bike – here’s to another 10 years, 10,000 miles…. and I promise I’ll service it more regularly. Wheel hubs & bottom bracket were like ratchets rather than smooth rotating mech that they should have been.. eeek.

I’ll be riding tomorrow in my BloodCancer UK shirt.

The Big Half

The Big Half takes place on Sunday September 7th. It’s my second time doing this Half, having previously completed it in August 2021 in a time of 1:48:32 – so I have something to aim for!

It’s basically the Canary Wharf, Tower Bridge, Greenwich section of the London Marathon course. Hoping for a fine day, not to hot.

3 weeks to go, another 6 or 8 training runs – and time to try meet my fundraising target.
