Peregrine Orchestra – Sing Joyfully: Music of the British Isles

St. Augustine’s, Kilburn, London, NW6 5XB

Sunday 26th October 2025 6:00PM

Peregrine Orchestra and Voices join forces once more to perform some of Britain’s best-loved choral and orchestral music, in the wonderful space of St. Augustine’s Church, Kilburn. Choral classics, such as Parry’s triumphant coronation anthem “I was Glad”, and his glorious setting of John Milton’s ode “Blest Pair of Sirens”, sit alongside choral works from the Renaissance (Byrd – “Sing Joyfully”), and the orchestral music of Ralph Vaughan-Williams (“Fantasia on a theme of Thomas Tallis”; “Symphony no. 5 in D major”): a delightful evening of some of the finest music written on these shores.

An evening of music in motion

We open with Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s Petite Suite de Concert, a work full of charm, elegance, and playful textures that immediately draws you into its vibrant world. Next, Edward Gregson’s Tuba Concerto offers a rare spotlight moment for the tuba, featuring the artistry of our own Wilfred Driscoll, whose performance brings warmth, virtuosity, and will get your toes tapping!

The program culminates in Brahms’ Symphony No. 3, a masterpiece of lyrical depth, sweeping gestures, and emotional resonance. Momentum is more than a concert—it’s a journey through sound, expression, and the pulse of music itself, inviting you to experience every note, phrase, and resonance along the way.
